When God Speaks Through a Song

Sunday morning. I was in the bathroom getting ready for church. Like what most people I believe, do in the shower, I began to sing. It was a song we use to sing at the church and sometimes, during Monday devotion at the office. I couldn’t remember the lyrics that morning.

Into your hand, I commit again

With all I am…

Sunday morning, we arrived at the church while praise and worship was on going. Then, as if the Spirit of the Lord had spoken, one of the songs in the line up was my song at the shower! This is the whole lyrics of the song:

Into Your hand I commit again
With All I am For You Lord
You hold my world in the palm of Your hand
And I’m Yours forever

Jesus I believe in You
Jesus I belong to You
You’re the reason that I live
The reason that I sing with all I am

I’ll walk with You wherever You go
Through tears and joy I’ll trust in You
And I will live in all of Your ways
Your promises forever

Jesus I believe in You
Jesus I belong to You
You’re the reason that I live
The reason that I sing

Jesus I believe in You
Jesus I belong to You
You’re the reason that I live
The reason that I sing with all I am

I will worship, I will worship You
I will worship, I will worship You

The song is about a believer in Christ, or a Christian who probably went a little cold about his faith and ministry. This Christian then declares and surrenders his heart again to Jesus.

I felt like crying through that worship! I tried my best not to let my tears fall but I couldn’t sing most words of the song. I know that the Lord personally spoke to me and asked me to give back my heart to Him again—in full surrender. And I’m telling you, it doesn’t happen to me every single worship time. When you sing and worship from your heart, then you raise your hands up to heaven, you will really feel the power of the Holy Spirit coming down to you.

I go to church every Sunday. I pray every day. I have my quiet times (though I fail sometimes on this). I give my tithes and offerings (Sadly, I fail on these, too). Why will the Lord ask me to commit myself again to Him? I know the answer. Even if I do all these things, I still have cares and worries. Someone said that when you have all these fears, doubts and cares in your heart, you are insulting the ability of your God. I am aware that I am not obeying everything He wants me to do even when I say, “Jesus, I will follow you.” When you surrender and commit yourself to God, you give everything to Him: your family, friends, joys, tears—everything. He is God, remember? Everything belongs to Him. He knows what to do with all these things. We only have to trust Him. We have to obey Him.

The best thing we can offer the Lord is our heart. Let us give our hearts to Jesus. He will take care of you and me.
